Hands on: beginner's introduction to sculpting in clay

Hands on will guide you thorough a solid introduction to making ceramic forms with your most familiar tools: your hands. Explore a variety of clay techniques including pinching, slab building, coil building, interior supports and most importantly strong joining. Hand-building with clay is a technique that has been used since the earliest ages of man and is a popular way of making much contemporary art today. There is no limit to what you can make with clay!
This course includes an optional one hour “crit” week where students will be able to begin developing a critical understanding of how to judge their and other’s ceramic work.
Graduates of this course may book unsupervised workshop time to continue their projects.
Cost includes a take home pottery toolkit, all materials (now including porcelain!), glazing and firing.
