We generally advise against showing up without a booking. Our workshop has limited space and we can’t always guarantee a place for you. The same applies for our firing/glazing/induction services. All of these must be booked beforehand, as we use the pre-booking system to organize how we operate day-to-day. If you have issues with booking our services, please contact us via email (hello@kil-n-it.com) and we’ll give you a hand!
I want to book one of kil.n.it’s services, why isn’t the scheduler on the website showing up?11/10/2017 In order for our booking services to function properly, you will need to enable pop-ups on your browser for them to show. This is only a temporary feature and we’re working hard to resolve any issues with our website and online scheduling system.
Our classroom, used for most of our public programs, is located at Glebe Town Hall at 160 St John's Rd, Glebe 2073. The classroom is roughly 9 minutes on foot from our studios.
The classroom is best accessed from the Mt Vernon Street gate, on the left of Glebe Town Hall's main entrance. The stairway to our classrooms are located immediately behind the black metal gates. Our classroom and kiln facilities within Glebe Town Hall are both wheelchair accessible. There is an accessibility ramp into the Hall at the Mt Vernon Street gate, where an elevator is located inside immediately to the left behind automated swinging glass doors. The kil.n.it classroom and kiln room are on the basement level. If you have any specific questions to ask us about accessibility here at kil.n.it please contact us on; Email - hello@kil-n-it.com Phone - 02 9571 4772 I can teach an art class with ceramics - how do I get involved with kil.n.it as a teacher?24/1/2017 Kil.n.it is a collection of studio spaces and opportunities all rolled into one.
If you have a unique class idea and are happy to work towards making it a reality - lets chat about how to do it. Keep in mind, kil.n.it is here for artists and those in creative industries and want to celebrate and promote all aspects of the profecccreative process First Step: email hello@kil-n-it.com with your idea and sus out to when you ideal timeframe would be to run the class. Pictures of previous works or classworks are ideal at this stage. Second: work as many details of your proposed class you can think of, i.e:
Third: if the plan looks feasible amongst our classes and events program, it is time to meet and plan out how to put it all in action! Awesome! Ceramic Jewelry is beautiful and unique everytime, we at kil.n.it appreciated the value of the time invested in these pieces.
But with tiny things comes specialised care necessary for each individual piece (i.e Alumina Hydrate for Porcelain Brooches, Egyptian paste beads need a wire rack, etc). If you want your jewellery fired perfectly but you aren't around to take the time putting it in the kiln, it would be best to also make a plate or bead tree to hold your pieces all in one place so no clumsy handling causes your good things to suffer! Booking your pieces in as gaps is only appropriate if they take up the space of a coffee cup, if taller or wider, you will need to buy multiple gaps to cover the space allocation. or you will be charged. *If using Wire to hold up beads, ensure you provide the correct wire. *If requiring Alumina hydrate, ensure you have purchased enough to lay under your pieces. *If particularly fragile items, it is part of our firing terms and conditions that you are available for the duration of the pack to place pieces into the kiln yourself in a deemed appropriate by the Technician. Every space has some expected conventions on how you conduct yourself to ensure a harmonious time. A Shared studio space is one that needs some kind parameters to ensure everyone can get along with what they are doing and each other.
BEFORE you spend time in the workshop, we encourage you to familiarise yourself with the "kil.n.it studio guidelines, 2016". THE Technique Toolkit: 6 Week Beginners Course is our allrounder skill experiencer class, geared for beginners and rookies with ceramic methodology.
We recommend it if you are interested in trying out ceramics, not too worried about making any specific object but open to investigating the material as a starting point to anything! Technique toolkit exposes you to not only a range of skills between hand building and throwing, but also you sample different artists who work professionally in the medium in craft and art fields. Yes Please!
Come in and use the room, keep it alive and kicking all week long! That said you must be inducted into the Workshop WHS policies. This is to give you the chance to see where the key box is, where to enter the super secret code, and how to be in the space safely. Please always be mindful that the space is shared and needs you to record your arrival and departure times in case of emergencies. Call 02 9571 4772 or email; hello@kil-n-it.com |
