A couple things
to know about our
Glaze Kitchen

Our Glaze Kitchen is a special, self-service space where you can either choose to use our ready-made glazes or create and test your own. Kil.n.it charges depending on the amount of time spent in our glaze kitchen and the amount of materials used. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Enjoy our Glaze Buffet

$25
Our communal glaze kitchen contains a range of handy tools, including buckets, brushes, tongs, banding wheels and table space. The space can be booked either for small groups or privately.

If you are new to glazing we suggest you book a private session with one of our knowledgeable staff members.

Beginners sessions run for 2 hours
and introduce basic glazing methods, explain how glazes behave in different temperatures, inform you on which glaze is best for your works, how to properly mix glazes, and appropriate testing methods. You can bring a recipe you are dying to make to this class, or personal pieces for glazing.

Class times available as appointments upon request, please contact us to book a class.

The Glaze Buffet + Kitchen Hire Bundle is a flexible appointment where you will have access to our range of glazes or the opportunity to create your own, which are suitable for the range of firing options we offer. Book online here to secure a time slot.

The only limit to how much glaze you consume in the Glaze Buffet - is how much you can get out of the bucket!

Before using this service, please make sure you book and attend a one-off induction with one of our professional team members. Once inducted, simply book a private session online as needed.

Our extensive Glaze Buffet is part of the Kil.n.it research and development within our space. We strive to create and share visually interesting and technically accurate glazes, which are also appropriate to the temperatures listed in our regular firing services.

It is up to the individual user to test and plan appropriately as kiln firing terms and conditions will hold the artist responsible for application and use of kil.n.it Buffet glazes.

Safety precautions such as wearing an apron, mask and gloves are advised at all times when handling raw materials within the Glaze Kitchen. Masks, aprons and gloves are available onsite for purchase.

The Glaze Kitchen is open upon appointment, as well as within business contact hours (10-4pm weekdays). If you have been inducted into the Workshop, The Glaze Kitchen is not included.

Be prepared, new glazes must be tested and pass the "White Glaze Flash test"  before being used on whole works or whole firings. This ensures the safety of our kilns and other peoples work.
